I would not buy this for a child, I think a larger and higher quality blanket would be more practical.But its PERFECT for my 3 chihuahuas, because they track a lot of dirt in, and I am always washing and switching out their blankets around the house. My dogs are always digging in their blankets, and I like that this one is big enough that I can tuck it under the bed so they can't dig it out. (their bed is 36" x 25")I like that the pattern matches the constellation body-pillow on their bed, and matches the black & white theme in my bedroom.I purchased this as a gift; the recipient informs me that it does not in fact glow in the dark.However, in other respects it's quite nice. It's warm, soft, does look nice, and doesn't appear to require any special treatment when washing.Well worth it as a blanket.Bought this blanket for my 65lb Pit Bull, she loves it.It looks soft but is more of a towel look than a blanket.
